is a painless and effective procedure that helps rejuvenate the skin.  The peel uses pressurized oxygen to administer normal saline to the epidermis at supersonic speed.  The peel creates an exfoliative effect on the skin that is painless and leaves the skin glowing, and more youthful.  An advantage over typical microdermabrasion is its ability to hydrate the skin while exfoliating, and to be able to treat sensitive areas such as under the eyes that are missed with microdermabrasion.  It is commonly used in combination with microdermabrasion.

The first in many modern technologies for skin rejuvenation and hair removal is the IPL, also known as the Intense Pulse Light.  The IPL delivers high intensity pulses of light that stimulate collagen production, and result in smoother, more even, and youthful looking skin.  When used for hair removal, the pulses of light work to destroy the hair follicle at its base, which results in permanent hair reduction.  Another current technology used to rejuvenate and tighten the skin is with an infrared laser.  This laser provides dermal heating to stimulate the production of new collagen, which acts as a non-surgical skin thghtning.

Who is not a candidate?

• Patients with bleeding disorders (i.e. hemophiliac)
• Patients on blood thinning medications (i.e. coumadin)
• Patients on insulin with "uncontrolled" blood sugars
• Pregnant or nursing mothers
• Patients autoimmune disorders (i.e. scleroderma)
• Patients with active liver or kidney disease
• Patients inflamatory connective tissue disease
• Patients with severe high blood pressure or heart problems
• Patients with HIV
• Patients with any debilitating condition who are not deemed appropriate candidates by the treating care giver

Pre-Treatment Instructions

• Shower before treatment using antibacterial soap if possible
• Stop preventative use of ASA's (Asprin) or Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs such as Aleve, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, or corticosteroids 1 week prior to treatment
• Eat within 2 hours before your treatment
• Wear dark colored, loose fitting clothing

Post-treatment instructions

• If experiencing discomfort, use only Tylenol or any acetaminophen
• No exercise, massage or strenuous activity for 48 hours
• Patients will experience some burning and or discomfort for 20 minutes after treatment. In rare occasions, there may also be some lingering pain experienced for 48 hours (including point discomfort) after treatment. In such cases, the patient is advised to use an appropriate analgesic and call if pain continues.
• Patients may expect swelling, redness, itching, and bruising.
• No hot tubs, saunas, or tanning bed use for 48 hours after treatment.
• Increased water consumption.
• Do not bind or do anything to prevent swelling.

Dr. Jones is currently developing a protocol to have many of the treatments that are normally done at a spa done in a client’s own home.  Different from the typical “botox party”, the at home cosmetic consultation and treatment focuses on a relaxed, private, professional experience.  The added convenience of scheduling a visit around the client’s schedule makes this a very popular addition to Dr. Jones’ services.
