Who is not a candidate?
- Patients with bleeding disorders (i.e. hemophiliac)
- Patients on blood thinning medications (i.e. coumadin)
- Patients on insulin with "uncontrolled" blood sugars
- Pregnant or nursing mothers
- Patients autoimmune disorders (i.e. scleroderma)
- Patients with active liver or kidney disease
- Patients inflamatory connective tissue disease
- Patients with severe high blood pressure or heart problems
- Patients with HIV
- Patients with any debilitating condition who are not deemed appropriate candidates by the treating care giver
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Shower before treatment using antibacterial soap if possible
- Stop preventative use of ASA's (Asprin) or Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs such as Aleve, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, or corticosteroids 1 week prior to treatment
- Eat within 2 hours before your treatment
- Wear dark colored, loose fitting clothing
Post-treatment instructions
- If experiencing discomfort, use only Tylenol or any acetaminophen
- No exercise, massage or strenuous activity for 48 hours
- Patients will experience some burning and or discomfort for 20 minutes after treatment. In rare occasions, there may also be some lingering pain experienced for 48 hours (including point discomfort) after treatment. In such cases, the patient is advised to use an appropriate analgesic and call if pain continues.
- Patients may expect swelling, redness, itching, and bruising.
- No hot tubs, saunas, or tanning bed use for 48 hours after treatment.
- Increased water consumption.
- Do not bind or do anything to prevent swelling.
